Fancy fonts for your bio

Type your bio once and see it in 15 text styles, from bold and italic to script, double-struck, small caps and circled letters. Copy any style with one click and paste it into Instagram, TikTok or any profile that takes text. They are Unicode characters, not fonts, so they show wherever the app and phone can display them. How to put fancy fonts in your bio

  1. Type your text. Type or paste your bio, your name or one line of it into the box.
  2. Pick a style. Every style updates as you type. Read the note under it: some styles have no digits or are missing a letter, and those characters stay plain.
  3. Copy it. Press Copy beside the style you want. The styled text is now on your clipboard.
  4. Paste it into your profile. Open the app's profile editor, paste into the bio or name field, and check how it looks before you save.

Every style, and what it cannot do

Each style is a different set of Unicode characters, and Unicode did not encode every letter and digit in every one. Here is each style in this tool, shown on “Your bio 123”, with its gaps.

  • Bold: 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐨 𝟏𝟐𝟑. Covers every letter A to Z and every digit.
  • Italic: 𝑌𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑏𝑖𝑜 123. Has no digits: numbers stay plain. h comes from an older Unicode block and can look slightly different from the other letters.
  • Bold italic: 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒊𝒐 123. Has no digits: numbers stay plain.
  • Script (cursive): 𝒴ℴ𝓊𝓇 𝒷𝒾ℴ 123. Has no digits: numbers stay plain. B, E, F, H, I, L, M, R, e, g, o come from an older Unicode block and can look slightly different from the other letters.
  • Bold script: 𝓨𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓫𝓲𝓸 123. Has no digits: numbers stay plain.
  • Fraktur (gothic): 𝔜𝔬𝔲𝔯 𝔟𝔦𝔬 123. Has no digits: numbers stay plain. C, H, I, R, Z come from an older Unicode block and can look slightly different from the other letters.
  • Double-struck: 𝕐𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕓𝕚𝕠 𝟙𝟚𝟛. C, H, N, P, Q, R, Z come from an older Unicode block and can look slightly different from the other letters.
  • Sans-serif bold: 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗼 𝟭𝟮𝟯. Covers every letter A to Z and every digit.
  • Sans-serif italic: 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘪𝘰 123. Has no digits: numbers stay plain.
  • Monospace: 𝚈𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚋𝚒𝚘 𝟷𝟸𝟹. Covers every letter A to Z and every digit.
  • Small caps: ʏᴏᴜʀ ʙɪᴏ 123. Has no digits: numbers stay plain. Has no X: it stays plain. Small capital Q is a newer character, so older phones may show a box.
  • Circled: Ⓨⓞⓤⓡ ⓑⓘⓞ ①②③. Covers every letter A to Z and every digit.
  • Fullwidth: Your bio 123. Every character is double width, so the text takes about twice the room.
  • Strikethrough: Y̶o̶u̶r̶ b̶i̶o̶ 1̶2̶3̶. Adds a mark after every character, which doubles the character count.
  • Underline: Y̲o̲u̲r̲ b̲i̲o̲ 1̲2̲3̲. Adds a mark after every character, which doubles the character count.

No style has a styled form of accented letters (é, ñ, ü), other alphabets or emoji, so they stay as you typed them; Strikethrough and Underline still draw their line through them.

Use it with care

Screen readers may read styled letters badly: some read each one by its Unicode name, others skip it. Keep your name and key words in plain text.

Styled letters can also count as more than one character, so check the app's counter before you save. For what else belongs in a bio and on the page it links to, read what to put on a link in bio.

Fancy fonts, answered

Are these real fonts?

No. They are characters from Unicode's mathematical and symbol blocks that happen to look styled. Apps don't let you choose the font of your bio, but they do display Unicode characters, which is why copying and pasting them works.

Do fancy fonts work on Instagram and TikTok?

They show wherever the app and the viewer's phone can display those Unicode characters, which most current phones can. An older device may show an empty box instead of a letter, so check how your bio looks in the app before you save it.

Why do some letters or numbers stay plain?

Unicode has no styled version of them. Italic, script and fraktur have no digits, small caps has no X, and accented letters such as é have no styled form in any of these styles. The note under each style says what it cannot do.

Can screen readers read fancy text?

Often not well. A screen reader may read each styled letter by its Unicode name, such as mathematical bold capital B, or skip it altogether. Keep your name and the words that matter in plain text, and use a style for a short accent.

Does fancy text use more of my bio's character limit?

It can. Some apps count each styled letter as more than one character, so a bio that fits in plain text can run over. Strikethrough and underline add a mark after every character, which doubles the count. Check the app's counter before you save.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

It is free and needs no account. The styling runs in your browser as you type.
